Nationwide, billions of food accessories are thrown away each year, many of which aren’t even used once. We’re ready to change that.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Last week, Los Angeles Councilmembers Paul Koretz @paulkoretz and Paul Krekorian @paulkrekorian introduced a motion to draft city-wide legislation to require that all foodware accessories are available only upon request for takeout and delivery, including utensils, condiments, napkins and straws. Soon, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will introduce a similar motion, thanks to Boardmember @sheilakuehl. ⁣ ⁣ Switching to an “upon request” model both reduces unnecessary waste and saves restaurants money during a time when small businesses are struggling to stay open.
