Of this, 434,956 tons (1.1%) was organic (natural) textiles, 644,473 tons (1.6%) was synthetic/mixed/unknown textiles and another 120,032 tons was shoes/purses/belts. Together this amounts to 1,199,461 tons of textiles sent to California landfills in 2018. OKAY, LETS GO AHEAD AND BE DONE WITH THAT. Let’s build a culture of reuse, where we celebrate the long life textiles that took our planets precious resources to create, and will damage/endanger the lives of future generations when disposed of. What we’re doing at Suay is radical. There’s no money in this, it’s extremely labor intensive and makes us not the fan favorite of so many in this industry.
