His ashes were taken to the Ilfigenia Cemetery in Santiago and interred by his brother Raul Castro, who placed the urn inside a giant boulder and behind a marble plaque with the name “Fidel,” next to where the Cuban independence hero Jose Marti is buried. “The government organized the procession so that every road would be lined with people as it passed by.
