I've been blessed to travel as much as I have. This last year slowed me down considerably and offered an excess of time to reflect. One of the things I came to understand is that my experience as a photographer can have the unintended effect of pulling me out of an experience. It can create a psychological barrier that offers a visual proxy of "presence". Try as I might, there are moments that I don't recall at all. Most of my memories of assignments are more abstract in nature...or to say it another way, blurry. ⁠
