Once the most populous giraffe, with an estimated 71,000 individuals three decades ago, now less than half remain in the wild. Ongoing reports of poaching and habitat destruction have resulted in their numbers continuing to decline. These magnificent creatures are currently listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List.
