I make my own ink from the ink stick, continuously grinding against an ink stone with water. For editions, I have worked closely with a master printmaker #KeigoPrints for many years. I honor his sincere craftsmanship and aesthetics with razor sharp skills. After the color separation of my painting, he transfers each color image onto the screen. We carefully choose the printing ink to the most faithful colors of Sumi and Shu. Printing is accomplished by pushing ink through the screen and onto the paper with the squeegees. The eggish-colored Japanese paper is called Torinoko, which literally means a baby of the bird, a chick.🐣We print on the back side of the paper purposely for the organic texture. Hand torn, or deckle edges to create an atmosphere of charming imperfections. It’s a labor of love, for every process from beginning to the end ! Year of the Rat prints are also available.
