The grinning, sharp-clawed Panda family—members of the artist’s recurring cast of charming yet threatening characters—are perched on a ball of rainbow flowers, perhaps Murakami’s single most recognizable motif. Filling the background of the circular canvas is a pastel pink field of cherry blossoms and ghostly skulls, a symbolic juxtaposition of life and death.
