muskaのものづくりに欠かせない彫金道具の一つに、タガネがあります。タガネは日本の伝統的な彫金技術である和彫りに使われる道具です。

muskaでは、ブドウや柘榴、蔦やチューリップなど、神話や民話でもシンボル的な存在として表象化されてきた植物をオリジナルの文様に落とし込み、この和彫りという技術を使ってジュエリーに一点一点、手作業で彫っています。

和彫りの特徴は、研いだ刃先で模様を彫るため、彫り跡が鏡のように美しく煌めきます。
細やかな植物文様を彫り込むには、彫るための技術はもちろん、タガネをいかに綺麗に研げるかということが非常に重要になってきます。
タガネを整える際は、ルーペで角度や表面を刃先を確認しながら研いでいきます。

作り手にとって、こうした道具は自分の手とも言える大切な存在です。


A "tagane" is a tiny chisel and one of the essential tools for our jewelry making. It has been used in the traditional Japanese metalworking skill, "Wabori".

Various plants such as grapes, pomegranates, ivy and tulips have been symbolically represented in myths and folk tales.
We draw them into original patterns and engraved into our jewelry pieces one by one by Wabori skill.

The distinctive feature of Wabori is the mirror-like shimmering of the engraved line as it is done with a sharpened edge of the Tagane.

In order to engrave fine patterns, not only the engraving skill but also the ability to sharpen the Tagane is very important.
Such a tool is necessary, a hand itself for a craftsman.
