A Madrid apartment that once belonged to Hollywood legend Ava Gardner had been in designer @isabellopezquesada’s husband’s family for half a century—ever since Gardner sold it to them directly in the 1960s. When the longtime tenants left and the family decided to put it on the market, López-Quesada couldn’t bear to think of another designer reimagining the space. “I realized I had to get one of my clients to buy it,” she says. “And when you want something really badly, the stars somehow align.” López-Quesada’s romantic approach to interiors is apparent in all corners of the home, including in the dining room, pictured. Here, custom chairs with slipcovers in a @christopherfarrcloth fabric and mirrors from López- Quesada’s showroom flank lacquer-and-brass sliding doors leading into the drawing room.
