This tree lot has been here since 1988 and I did a little research online and truly love what I found. Billy Romp and his family has been on this street corner bringing the spirit of the holiday season to the neighborhood, the city, and all those visiting for about 32 years. He and his family drives from Vermont each year to set up their trees. Then, his kids were small...now, they are adults and Billy is 68 years young. He greets everyone with a smile and you automatically feel his warmth. I discovered that he knows peoples names, their dogs names, children...grandchildren etc even if he only sees them 1-3 times a year. Billy is family to everyone. What I love most about his story is that he doesn’t have to be a resident of NY to belong and is the heart & soul of a neighborhood/city. ❤️ Take the time if you can, to read about Billy and his family. His story moved me so much so that I was so excited to draw him and have him wave to you all! A little expression of Billy’s warmth on my video made my day!
