Our people, they are afraid.” – Rodney Bordeaux, president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe   As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to march on, no region has been harder hit than the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and other native tribes in North and South Dakota.   Since the start of the pandemic, Native Americans have been affected in disproportionally high numbers. In August, the CDC reported that Native people are 2.8 times more likely to be infected, 5.3 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 1.4 times more likely to die of the virus than whites. Last week, North Dakota had the highest number of reported Covid-19 cases and deaths per capita in the United States.   On the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, the tribe has confirmed more than 200 current cases of Covid-19, and over a dozen members dead.  Hospitals nearby are reaching capacity, and the Covid-19 testing labs are overrun, causing test results for suspected infections to be delayed for up to 7 days.   Your support of the tribe over the past several months has allowed them to shore up their defenses, purchasing masks, sanitizers, and other vital goods needed by the tribe as the pandemic has slowly crept onto the reservation. And now, on Giving Tuesday, we are asking for your help again, to continue to provide the tribe with the support they need now more than ever, as they fight for their lives against this virus.   Please donate now at https://www.gofundme.com/f/kb-memorial-fund (link in bio)   Thank you for your continued support.
