On World AIDS Day, the Guggenheim recognizes the devastating impact of the AIDS pandemic. To commemorate the first annual “Day With(out) Art,” which took place December 1, 1989, a ninety-by-eighteen foot black banner was draped over the museum to honor our colleagues in the art world who have died from or who are living with HIV/AIDS.
