Two days late, but we got our Thanksgiving family photo! My dad took it from a social distance. With lots of instruction. “Put the camera lower! Don’t cut off our feet! Stop tilting it down!” I’m such a huge pain in the ass. Anyway, I love my family so freakin much. The core four of us, the grandparents, the aunts and uncles, the cousins, all the extended family members I normally see only once or twice a year on holidays. I talked to my Uncle Scott yesterday and asked what he and Aunt Rita did for Thanksgiving. He told me they were going to make a Turkey, but he talked to Uncle Joe and Aunt Alice and they decided since it was just them, they were going to eat their favorite meals. So Uncle Joe had filet mignon and Aunt Alice had shrimp. This inspired Uncle Scott to scrap the Turkey idea and get a brisket sandwich with a pickle, kasha & bowties and chocolate babka for dessert. Aunt Rita ate chopped liver on rye, matzoh ball soup and some apple strudel. So now I think we need to make a new family holiday called BYOLM. Bring your own last meal. Next year we eat our last meals together! What would you bring?
