Vogue Italiaさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Vogue ItaliaInstagram)「If there is a name - and a body - that symbolizes the fact that we’ve gone beyond the need for gender pronouns, it’s that of Lachlan Watson (@LachrWatson), here in @Etro photographed by @SebastianFaena styled by @ZadrianSmith for the November issue of Vogue Italia. At 19 and having lived most of her life in North Carolina – a conservative and predominantly white state that isn’t known for being progressive – she came out as a lesbian at age 13 to then declare herself a transgender man at 14 (much like Theo Putnam, the character Lachlan played in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). After having removed his breasts at age 18, Watson understood that he didn’t want to have a fixed sexual identity, and this was as his career took off in the world of show business, becoming one of the first and youngest non-binary gender queer actors. The perfect androgynous character, in other words. And this is where the pronouns change in this story, from “him/her” to “them” because non-binary people tend to relate to this sense of multiplicity. The shots by Faena for Vogue Italia are inspired by ‘Orlando’, the main character in the Virginia Woolf novel of the same name, as well as being a gender-fluid character ante litteram played by Tilda Swinton on the big screen in 1992. “Tilda Swinton is an icon for me, and, if I were to rank my idols, I’d put her even before David Bowie. So it’s amazing that I can offer my version of Orlando, a story that I “discovered” as I prepared for the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. When I meet someone who knows about Orlando, I feel like they also know me. I feel understood, like myself, without the need to explain what it means to be gender-fluid.” Read the full interview by @_Federico_Chiara_ via link in bio.
