Every Sunday starting at seven in the morning, thousands of people claim the streets of this city’s main avenues and highways, replacing cars with bicycles, skates, scooters—or just plain walking. The event dates back to 1976 when a group of citizens concerned about the lack of public space for sports practice demanded that the city closed stretches of roads usually filled with cars and buses. The experiment, called Ciclovía or Bikeway, continues to grow and has become one of the main attractions of this city, which is usually choked by impossible traffic. #bogota #colombia #bicycles
