Photo by @magnuswennman / Lesvos, Greece, September 17, 2020. The orange life jacket that previously served as a lifeline during the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean is now a toy for a young boy who dives and plays near the shore. The situation for the thousands of refugees who lost everything when the Moria refugee camp burned to the ground is terrible. It's a strange feeling to be in such a beautiful place and hell on Earth at the same time.

The Moria camp was built during the refugee crisis in 2015 for 3,000 people. Before the fire, about 12,000 people lived there, including 4,000 children. When the Moria camp was reduced to rubble, thousands were forced to sleep on parking lots and sidewalks and in abandoned houses. A new camp has been built, but many are afraid to move in—feeling mistreated in the old camp, they're afraid that it will happen again.
