In 2015, I walked the length of Africa from Cape Town to Cairo. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ In 2019, I decided to bike coast-to-coast across Canada to better understand the country in which I live. My journey began on the West Coast on Vancouver Island (@tourismvancouverisland) and finished in St John's, Newfoundland (@newfoundlandlabrador). In keeping with my strong belief in sustainable and responsible travel, I decided the best way to do that was through human-powered adventure. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The journey itself was pivotal for me, I learned so much about the varying terrain throughout this magnificent country. The rising mountains along the Rockies provided me with both physiological and mental challenges, the wide-open prairies, and turquoise lakes and the majestic cliffs along the East Coast were strikingly beautiful. I will always cherish learning about the fascinating lives of the people I met and the kindness that was extended to me along the way. In particular I befriended Adrian, an inspiring indigenous man who shared stories of the First Nations people in Canada. I learned more about their culture, history and the continuing struggles they have to keep their heritage alive. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ This trip gave me the opportunity to discover some of the incredible things Canada has to offer.
