1986: I was en route to the Cedar Rapids airport from my hometown of Cedar Falls, Iowa in the cold, dark midwestern morning. 15 years old and off to film a movie—go figure. Driving with my parents in our maroon Honda Accord. Life was changing, I was jetting off to a new world of experiences, following my dreams. Someone—I’ll never know who—dedicated this song to me on our local radio station. The lyrics and the song itself still remain an anthem to me. I blasted it on repeat on my way to work this morning.
