This drawing of two ballet dancers rehearsing at the barre was one of Edgar Degas’ earliest studies of the subject, which would become one of his most well-known themes 💃
The French artist regularly attended ballets at the Paris Opera, and even gained access to its backstage and rehearsal spaces. He died #onthisday in 1917.
