Where a new era is being ushered in as Raf begins his dialogue with Miuccia. Where instead of newness, maybe it’s about refinement. And also where we are in the world, when clothes need to feel vital - Not in that boring basics cornerstone kind of way. Where say, re-nylon (in itself a right step forward in Prada’s evolution) is rendered in oversized mid-century couture shapes, an enduring reference for Simons - As the models - all new faces making fresh debuts against daffodil yellow - clutched their coats closely against their chests; a gesture favoured by both Miuccia and Raf, it takes on new meaning right now when we do want to feel cocooned and we want to hold onto SOMETHING - “We’re guided by the science” says our government. And so diagrams of words, arrows and flow charts in Peter de Potter’s artwork read like an internal monologue of these weird times. Against archive Prada prints or rumpled nylon floral appliqué, this is where Raf and Miuccia’s worlds collided more literally - “It’s the beginning and we don’t know where are going to go,” said Miuccia.
