Photo by Tomas van Houtryve @tomasvh A volunteer from the group Charpentiers Sans Frontières (Carpenters Without Borders) places a symbolic oak branch at the top of a wooden roof frame in front of the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. The beams and frame were hewed and assembled by hand, using only traditional woodworking skills and based on the original design of the cathedral. The frame was raised only for demonstrative purposes—there is still much repair work to be done on Notre-Dame before workers will eventually get to the roof. A massive fire ravaged the cathedral in April 2019. Follow @tomasvh for more stories and images. #NotreDamedeParis #NotreDame #notredamecathedral
