I’m excited to introduce @nimkoali and @josephinekulea as today's #passthemic. Based in London and Kenya, they are two exceptional defenders of girls and women, who together are fighting to end FGM, female genital mutilation - a crisis that affects over 200 million women.

Today they come together for #passthemic to tell us the urgent story of how COVID-19 is putting rescued girls back into extreme danger especially in Kenya. This is our opportunity to get to grips with the reality on the ground, but also to keep the hope alive - by supporting The Five Foundation, the global partnership to end FGM and Samburu Girls Foundation, Dr Kulea's operation on the ground in Kenya.

Activism can’t be a trend — it is everyday work to show up and I’m glad to be able to give the mic to the people who live this daily.
