Tip for ASPIRING OR WORKING creatives, influencers, & models:
Don’t rely on ANYONE to make money for you!
You NEED to be your OWN PLUG at all times. 💸🔋🔌

I get asked quite often by creatives wanting to quit their day time job to pursue their creative dreams full time.
.
“I know I can do this and this is my passion/purpose. I’m going to quit my job and dive in. What do I do???!!”
.
Imma tell everyone why that should be a HELL NO at first. 😱🙅🏾‍♀️
.
1. Creative fields are very unstable. They just don’t like telling anyone. My guess is because not many people would do it if they found out?
2. 1 minute you could be working a ton, the next minute it’s SLOW. Also, pay time Is 30-120 days
3. Because of trends and market shifts, you could possibly NEVER book work.
4. Survival should always come first before anything. Due to capitalism, we literally have to pay to breathe. The dream sounds nice of quitting everything with $2 in your bank account and stumbling into your dream job, but it RARELY happens.
Create a blueprint.
Make a deadline.
Save your coins.
Leave your job when your creative journey starts taking off.
Get a job you can do anywhere.
Get another job during the slow periods.
5. If you leave your career to the hands of someone else, YOU WILL NOT BE CONTENT OR HAPPY.
As much as you’d like to believe everyone is for you, your career outline will ALWAYS subconsciously equate to visions of that person.
That’s why your managers, agents, and PR etc, should be a PARTNERSHIP outlook. Always talk about your goals and passions. See how these group of people align.
If they align well, you put in work and they put in work. TOGETHER is the goal.
6. Never sign contracts where an agency or management has full control over everything you do.
As when it gets slow and they aren’t able to book work for you, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HUSTLE ON YOUR OWN.
You can’t find your own work and if you do you MUST PAY THEM A PERCENT. Not fair right? So read them contracts! Don’t sell your soul and God given passions.
