At that time her homeland was at war against Apartheid. Today, we’re fighting to dismantle those constructs here in America. As Black, Brown, Indigenous, First-Generation voters, we must unify our voices at the polls this November. It’s only been 55 years! We’re still new to voting and need to pull up and show out en mass because it’s our constitutional right to join in the conversation. We have been chased away from our places of belonging. We have been chased away from the polls albeit overtly or systemically and frankly our time is now. Black, Brown, Indigenous Womxn & their honest allies have the ability to change the course of history this fall by casting a vote in favor of equality from local levels of government as well as deciding on the White House. It’s our chance to prove the protests weren’t trendy but the motivation and catalyst for realized change for the benefit of all humans. Exploring how is racial and gender equality represented in your hometown? How many tax dollars can be reallocated to better improve local schools and inclusive community initiatives?
