Tomorrow: New Museum artists in residence Ensayos premiere Act I of their experimental ecofeminist drama Cucú and Her Fishes, which the Museum will stream online at 6 AM, 2 PM, and 8 PM EST. Link in bio to register for a screening 🐡

Following the 2 PM screening, there will be a Q&A with members of Ensayos including: Bárbara Saavedra, Director of @wcs_chile, Hema’ny Molina, Director of @corporacionselknam, Camila Marambio, Founder of @ensayostierradelfuego and @christy_gast, artist.

The play begins at a country house partially submerged in a peat bog. As a group of women plan a fundraising scheme for ocean advocacy, debates about ecological justice and interspecies ethics escalate. Ensayos practitioners are not professional actors; they are a group of artists, scientists, and activists who collaborate on eco-cultural inquiries. For Act I—which was originally planned to take place at the New Museum—Ensayos members met online to develop, rehearse, and produce the play during the pandemic.
