#AubreyBeardsley (1872–1898) shocked and delighted late-Victorian London with his sinuous black and white drawings. His works explore the erotic and the elegant, the humorous and grotesque. In his short lifetime, Beardsley developed a distinctive style that was celebrated across the world.
Spanning seven years, the artist's exhibition at Tate Britain covers his intense and prolific career as a draughtsman and illustrator, cut short by his untimely death from tuberculosis at the age of 25. If you can't get to the galleries, or you're planning a trip soon, dive into the exhibition with our curator's conversation and room-by-room guide by clicking the link in today's bio.
