New Guinea Singing Dogs are sometimes referred to as the wildest domesticated dog or the most domesticated wild dog. We know they were brought to New Guinea by humans, so they fall early in the domesticated dog timeframe, but they live wild in the highlands of New Guinean. We believe there are likely still@wild@singers living those highlands; however it is not an easy area to get to or to research. . Most people who meet the boys know these are not your average dog. They have a unique look, unique body language, and something that just doesn’t fit within the framework of what we see in our average domesticated dog. We can tell you, while they share many traits of your modern man’s BFF, they are definitely not a normal dog. They climb trees, for one!! . So, while they find themselves in the hands of exotic breeders who many market as the rarest dog in the world, but great house pets.... we can confirm, they need specialized care!!
