This week marks 30 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act became law. Signed on July 26, 1990, it offered comprehensive protections for the basic civil rights of people with disabilities, outlawing discrimination against individuals with disabilities in schools, employment, transportation and more.
This lap blanket in our @国立アメリカ歴史博物館's collection was altered by hand to include the universal access symbol in stitched stars. It was sewn by disability-rights advocates affiliated with ADAPT, which stands for the American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today. #ADA30
