I was moved, inspired and I want to share with you through my illustrated video. The mural in Bemelmans Bar was painted in 1947 (I believe🤔) by Ludwig Bemelman. He was the author of the much adored Madeline books. It’s a whimsical interpretation of Central Park and I’m obsessed with it! Took me awhile to recreate the scene, I honestly think it was my nervousness of illustrating something so precious by such a talented artist that got the best of me. After easing into the illustration...nervousness went away and I’m happy with the results. It’s close enough to show you and for you to get a feel of this magnificent wall art. Of course, I had to add a little steaming coffee cup to represent me somewhere in the scene. Please look at the actual mural and see all the many details and scenes on the wall of the hotel bar.
