Aujourd’hui, focus sur ce chef-d’œuvre de l'orfèvrerie phénicienne. 🔎 - 🏹 Cette coupe d'or et d'argent ornée de motifs très élaborés a été trouvée à Idalion sur l'île de Chypre. Elle est décorée dans sa partie centrale d'un thème typiquement égyptien, celui du pharaon en train d'abattre ses ennemis. - 🦁 Le pharaon est accompagné d'un serviteur qui porte le reste de ses armes. Le disque solaire ailé du dieu Râ et le dieu faucon Horus sont présents aux côtés du souverain. Autour du médaillon central, deux frises concentriques sont séparées par de petits anneaux : la première présente une suite de griffons et de sphinx ailés ; la seconde montre la scène plusieurs fois répétée de la lutte entre un héros et d'un lion ou un griffon. - ✍️ Cet objet témoigne des relations culturelles et économiques entre l'île de Chypre, les Phéniciens et les Égyptiens au VIIIe siècle avant l'ère chrétienne. The circular center of the cup is decorated with a typically Egyptian theme, a pharaoh crushing his enemies. - 🦁 The pharaoh is accompanied by a servant who is carrying the rest of his weapons. The winged sun of the god Ra and the falcon god Horus are beside the king. Two concentric friezes around the central medallion are separated by tiny rings. The first frieze shows a series of griffons and winged sphinxes ; the second repeats the scene of the struggle between a hero and a lion or a griffon. - ✍️ The cup bears witness to the cultural and economic relations between Cyprus, the Phoenicians, and the Egyptians in the 8th century BC.
