佐渡にも”清水寺”があった！？？

杉並の奥にひっそりと立つ清水寺。同じ「清水寺」と書くけど、佐渡の清水寺の読み方は「せいすいじ」。

桓武天皇が「佐渡の人々が京都の清水寺へ参拝できない」ことを嘆き、その命を受けた法師により808年に建設されたそうです。

京都の清水の舞台のような「救世殿（ぐぜでん）」があって（写真２枚目）、本尊も同じ千手観世音菩薩。ほんとに共通点が多い！

今では苔の生い茂る杉並木の奥にひっそりと静かに佇んでいる寺院だけど、かつては人々の厚い信仰を集めていたのだなあと思うとロマンを感じます😌

ちょうど雨が降っていたので、参道のコケがとっても色鮮やかでした🌿

Kiyomizu-dera Temple exists on Sado Island too!

Kiyomizu-dera Temple stands quietly in the depths of Suginami. The name "Kiyomizu-dera" is written the same way, but the pronunciation is "Seisuiji temple”.

It was built in 808 by a priest who was ordered by Emperor Kanmu to build the temple because Emperor Kanmu lamented that people on Sado were unable to visit Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto.

There is a "Guzeden (Guzeden) Hall" just like the one at Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto (second photo), and the principle deity is also a thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva.

Nowadays, the temple stands quietly behind a row of cedar trees lined with moss, but I feel a sense of romance when I think about the fact that this temple must have once attracted a lot of faith from people.
