The Bowery Mission has been the New Museum’s neighbor since we opened on the Bowery in 2007. For several years, the Museum has partnered with the Mission to provide free art-making opportunities and tours for Mission guests, and each year the Museum serves as a donation site for the Mission’s annual winter coat drive. . The Mission has set up barricades in front of the Museum as well as tents and stations for food distribution, which takes place multiple times a day to serve the surge of people in need. The barricades help manage the lines and necessary social distancing while allowing clear passage to pedestrians. .
