In this edition of our “COOL DANG DOG BUSINESSES,” say hello to the Dog Father of Harlem and founder of @harlemdoggiedayspa , Brian Taylor! Brian started out with a banking background and was quickly introduced to the pet industry by a banking customer who was a dog walker and groomer. They opened Harlem Doggie Day Spa, where Brian started off mostly managing finances and soon discovered how much he enjoyed dog grooming, so he got officially certified. He knew that HDDS was his calling and used his corporate and customer service experience to grow HDDS into one of the first businesses of its kind in the neighborhood offering everything from grooming, daycare and boarding to supplies for dog owners. Since its opening, Brian has taken care of around 10,000 dogs in NYC!!

The pandemic forced Brian to initially shut down his facility. As he slowly began re-opening and grooming one dog at a time, he discovered people were donating money for those who may not be able to afford a dog grooming during this time. These donations inspired Brian to start a “Pup Pandemic Relief Tour” where he will be partnering with groomers across the nation, this summer providing free grooming and spa services to dogs in need.
