Considered to be the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque period, his style emphasized movement, color, and sensuality. Rubens was not only a prolific artist, commissioned by nobility and art collectors throughout Europe, but he was also one of the most cultivated and literate figures of his time. This masterful painting of the Titan Prometheus was considered by Rubens himself to be one of his most important works.
