our first system, the ecosystem is actively anti-racist yet the climate crisis today is caused by colonial, racist structures that disproportionately effect BIOPC. today is #worldenvironmentday and whilst it might feel strange to highlight it, it is how we have moved through this planet that has oppressed nations of people. i wanted to highlight some organisations that create communities for BIPOC to feel supported and joyous in nature.

@browngirlsurf - creates a more diverse, joyful and environmentally reverent women’s surf culture.
@outdoorafro - celebrates and inspires black leadership in nature.
@blackgirlstrekkin - work to inspire and empower black women to spend time outdoors, appreciate nature and protect it.
@girltrek - public health and self-care movement for black women.
