現代美術家である、クリストが天国に旅立った。
約29年前の1991年。カリフォルニアと茨城県で同時開催されたアンブレラプロジェクト。当時24歳の僕は( 会社を始める直前)、このプロジェクトにいたく感動し、計三回足を運ぶこととなった。ある日、案内場に立ち寄ったらなんと、クリストとジャンヌ＝クロード 夫妻がいらっしゃった。恐る恐る話しかけると、とても気さくにこのプロジェクトの事について話してくれた。そして最後にサインをねだると、手にもっていた黒いマジックペンでサインしようとし、突然案内所の中に入って行ってしまった。怒らせてしまったかもしれない・・・と心配していたら茨城県に設置された青いアンブレラにちなんで、青いマジックペンに持ちかえて戻って来てくれ、こころよくサインをしてくれたのです。まるでまるで夢のような思い出です。

Christo, a contemporary artist, passed away. 
In 1991, nearly 29 years ago, a project “The Umbrellas” was held in California and Ibaraki prefecture at the same time. I visited it in Ibaraki three times when I was 24 years old (just before I co-found a firm). 
I met Christo and Jeanne-Claude accidentally when I stopped by the information bureau. I gingerly approached and talked to them, then Christo told me a lot about this project. In the end I asked for autograph and he was almost writing down with a black pen in his hand, but he immediately went inside of the bureau. Oh no, I might made him annoyed … just when I thought like this, he came back with a blue pen, the same color as the umbrellas in Ibaraki, and wrote down his autograph finally and generously. It was like a dream.
Mr. Christo, may your soul rest in peace.
