The first thing I did was to buy a suit. Not because I wanted to, because I was ‘supposed to’. But I felt suffocated just looking at it and ended up never wearing it to the parliament, I kept on wearing my jeans and t-shirts. Clothes are communication and people should wear what they feel like wearing and what makes them feel comfortable, in the same way as they should be who they are. For me the dress represents liberation and femininity, a way of celebrating womanhood and I feel that I have so much masculinity in me because I’m in the position I’m in.
