Wearing a @maisonvalentino couture dress makes you feel like a very different person to say wearing @rickowensonline . I worked with a young fashion student called @reinadal whose Tumblr account was incredibly well done, in the choice of images she chose as well as the images she created of herself. The combination described very well a personality. I had never met Rei in person but she agreed to enter into the project for SHOWstudio. For 7 days my assistant would deliver her a black leather box containing a beautiful dress chosen by @elliegracecumming from for example @jilsander , @maisonvalentino ,or @atsukokudolatex . My assistant was instructed not to talk and simply to hand over the box each day and pick up the box from the day before . As well as the dress , the box contained wigs chosen by @sammcknight1 lipstick chosen by @thevalgarland , nails chosen by @mariannewman plus literature, fragrance, and music . They were all facets of a woman’s character. Rei would be asked to wear the dress for her whole day and post images inspired by the way the dress, etc made her feel . She would also be asked to keep the dress in all day , to do whatever she had to do , shopping , going to the supermarket etc. Not only was I fascinated by the transformative power of brilliant fashion but I was excited by the idea that someone would see this incredible vision walking unexplained through the streets of Barcelona and this would set off a fantasy of speculation that would stay with that person for life. I love the power of fashion and fantasy , especially when it occurs unexpectedly and unexplained in our lives . The last dress is the one seen here . Possible one of the most beautiful dresses ever , made by the brilliant @rafsimons during his tenure at @jilsander . Raf famously wept at the finale of his show . That night Rei cried too . She created these images of herself wearing it ,using the web camera on her laptop, of her falling in love with it and it breaking her heart as she had to let it go out of life .
