So I filmed this great insta-live this evening, and I lost the video before it saved. I know lots of you wanted to watch it so I decided to bite the bullet and just refilm it. I feel like it's not as great as the original one, but I'm trying to be less of a perfectionist so am just publishing it exactly as I filmed it.
I wanted to discuss toxic friendships because I feel like it's a subject that isn't discussed much. We seem to treat friendships differently to friendships, expecting them to be an unbreakable contract or obligation, but the people change, grow, evolve, and some people become mean or distant. I've had some really horrific friendship break ups and they knocked me for 6, because I really didn't expect it or know how to navigate it. I've now done a lot of research, and in doing so it made it easier for me to either create better boundaries or distance myself from unhealthy and toxic friendships.
One thing I forgot to mention in this rerecording is the fact that once you free yourself from the people bringing you down, you make space for new and more fulfilling friends. My friendships are the strongest they have been, we build each other up and support each other, and a lot of them are with people I reconnected with after deciding to remove myself from the toxic ones. I hope this is useful to some of you. We all deserve the best relationships.
