今日、
折ってあった千羽鶴を
玄関先のアプローチに飾った。
イギリスでは
ついに昨日、
1日で1000人近くの方が
コロナウィルスの犠牲になった。
千羽鶴分の命が
たった1日で天に召された。
鶴を折り始めた当初は
亡くなった方の数だけなどど
思っていたのだが
みるみるうちに犠牲者数が
増えて
わたしたちの鶴を折る手が
到底追いつかなくなった。
無念。
家族や友達の元を離れて
旅立った人々への鎮魂と
彼らが旅立つまで
命をかけて見送った
医療従事者のみなさんへの
慰労と感謝
そして、今なお
病気と闘っている
みんなへ祈りを込めて。
Three weeks ago my husband set our family a challenge... to make an origami crane for each person who had lost their life to Covid 19 in the UK. It became apparent very quickly as the days went by that we couldn not create the birds quick enough to reach the total. A very sad sign of how quickly the numbers were increasing daily. In japanese culture the origami crane is made for the sick in the hope they get well. Yesterday the UK saw the daily death toll touch almost 1000. Our installation of 1000 paper birds symbolises how many lives were taken away from family and friends yesterday. Thank you to all the NHS staff who care for these souls before they leave us 💙
