The desire to shine a spotlight on this topic was inspired by my impromptu visit from a couple of Doping Control Officers earlier this week. Early Tuesday morning, bare-faced and wearing my unicorn dressing gown, I answered to a knock on my front door. There, stood two people asking if they could watch me pee in a cup for an “out of competition” drugs test. “Urine luck!” I said. “Here’s my pea in a cup…” • As a trampolinist dedicated to my sport, striving to be the best I can be and compete to the highest level, I understand the importance of competing on a fair and level playing field. With the help of The World Anti-Doping Agency @wada_ama and organisations like @ukantidoping @figgymnastics @britishgymnasticsofficial I can be more confident that I compete alongside other clean athletes that are not violating any anti-doping rules. Using the testing sites #GlobalDro and #InformedSport, I can check the medicines and supplements I take are safe to use. Clean sport is also important for the health and integrity of sportspeople. I am part of an international testing pool along with many athletes from other sports. We must provide whereabouts EVERY DAY. We can be tested any time, any place, on any day of the year - even Christmas Day! I provide a designated hour each day at a location where I MUST be at AND give information like my overnight accommodation and times/places of my regular activities so that a Doping Control Officer can test me “within hours” or “out of hours” respectively. I would get a 'missed test' if I'm not where I say I'll be during my designated hour and a 'filing failure' if I fail to provide correct data or forget to update my whereabouts if times or locations change. 3x 'Whereabout Failures' within 12 months, I would be banned from sport. Although I can sometimes find this inconvenient and intrusive, I know testing programmes like these are vital to keep sports clean from doping.
