Photo by @davidalanharvey | Rodanthe, North Carolina, December 14, 2019. Not much left of Mirlo Beach, and after every hurricane or nor’easter we all rush to see if this time it’s all gone. The sea wants to break through at this spot and create a new inlet to the sound. Inlets come and go on these barrier islands, some lasting a hundred years or more and some just a hundred days. Either way, it's a finger snap in geologic time. This is from my Outer Banks series Come Hell or High Water.
