Do yourself a favor and read her words below. Treasure these friendships, for they will carry you through the darkness. ・・・ Last week I went to a dinner filled with women who had been friends for years. I didn’t know many of them as I am new to living in Los Angeles (Some of you may know this, but I recently moved here to have our baby). As I sat at dinner, there were two friends who gave a toast to each other. I love toasts, especially when they are a tribute to a friend- I find them to be such a sweet, often funny, and loving expression of affection for another person. What really struck me about this particular exchange, between these women who had been friends for a think a little over a decade, was how often they used to word “transformation” and “grow” I was in such awe over how much respect they had for each others personal and professional growth. It is easy to root for someone’s growth in theory because you don’t have to factor in how their growth might change your relationship or dynamic. To be a friend that is truly able to hold space for someone’s growth is one of the most beautiful and priceless gifts you could ever give them. It is not always easy or comfortable. Hearing the two of them reminded me of something my friend Molly said on one of my book tour stops for Heart Talk last year: I asked her how friendship plays a role in self-care and she responded by saying that “All of her friends are people who are friends with the woman she dreams of being.” She said that while we all accept her for who she is today, we, at the same time, make room for, cheer for, and support her in becoming the woman she wants to be. She said that having that energy in her life helped her to stay in tuned with what is important to her which is a big part of how she cares for herself. Just thought I would share these ideas with you this month as you begin closing down the year. It’s a great time to reflect on relationships, reset boundaries, and also show gratitude for your co-dreamers. I love you.」12月17日 12時25分 - odetteannable
