1 week vs 4.5 months postpartum.

There are some days I look in the mirror and wonder why my body hasn't bounced back quickly as my friends have. I'll admit, I compared myself to others and their post-pregnancy weight loss and expected my body to get back to where it was. But, (like for a lot of women) breastfeeding didn't make my baby weight drop off like everyone said it would either. But then again, I think about the strength my body has now. I mean, I was in total and complete survival mode. No sleep coupled with severe stress and anxiety of trying to adapt to a new lifestyle change, severe baby blues that lasted months, and constantly stressing about my milk supply for my LO put the weight of the world on my shoulders. This might've led to my weight gain. Maybe it didn't.
The bottom line is that every woman's postpartum journey is different. There are so many separate factors that go into continuing to give your child life. Don't put expectations on yourself and your body. Be the mother your child needs. I guarantee you that your baby thinks you're the most incredible, beautiful human being in the world.
Maybe my postpartum belly hasn't bounced back yet. Maybe it won't for another six months, maybe it never will. I'm still breastfeeding and plan to for as long as I can. What I have learned is that my little Oliver sees me as a superhero. He adores the body that gives him cuddles, cradles him to sleep of a night, and makes him feel safe. I've learned that feeling strong and healthy is way more important. This body grew and birthed my little Oliver, and that's pretty amazing. I am doing an amazing job being a mother, and my body is a fortress that gave life to the person I love the most. // #postpartumbody #postpartum #4monthspostpartum #momlife #mumlife
