In 2010 authorities in Osaka began inforcing a 1948 law that dictated the size and type of establishments in which people were allowed to dance (amended in 1984 to prohibit dancing after midnight). I remember turning up to a DJ gig in Osaka around this time (at the since-closed club Onzieme). Tables and chairs covered the dancefloor, and no-one was allowed to stand up to dance. Soon after, police raids on clubs began in Tokyo. Half-way through the night, the lights would go on, and the club would close. I remember the fear on the faces of the party kids in Trump Room one night when this happened. Despite the law being overturned in 2015, a dogma surrounding nightlife remains for some in the current generation. I believe the enjoyment of music and dancing in nightclubs is just as an important rite-of-passage as enjoying traditional dancing at local festivals. #DisposablesBook #Disposables #Nightclub #Dancing #NoDancing #Japan #使い捨てカメラ #DisposableCamera #35mm」11月13日 19時29分 - tokyodandy
