Photo by @paulnicklen | This is what it's like to get up close and personal with the Canadian Coast Guard's largest icebreaker to date, the C.C.G.S. Louis S. St-Laurent. I took this photo of Jeremy Stewart checking out the ship's propellers on my second assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック back in 2002, which was a story on the effects of climate change in the Beaufort Sea, Alaska. So much has happened since then that it feels like a lifetime ago. But I'll never forget this moment when I got to fulfill a childhood dream of diving below multiyear ice to examine the mechanical majesty of this massive ship.
