Long post alert. And a collection of pics from the last month that unfortunately don't include everyone!
Annnnnnd I'm home 😊
After Tokyo for 3 weeks on one big mission and 1 week on the south coast chilling out. Sun, sea, sand and the pooch 🐾
Now for the bigger topic though. Climbing in the Olympics. Still feels a little strange to hear it or say it but now it's even closer to home with Shauna qualifying for a quota place at the world renowned event. Watching her compete and battle with a cold was a little stressful, not gonna lie. My heart rate sat on a chair watching was 135 bpm 😱😱
Let's also not forget that a few days before the combined event, she secured 3rd in the World in bouldering!
Being apart of the team that started this journey feels epic. It's been a long and at times uncertain road. There's been a lot of learning, ups and downs, set backs and jumps forward. Tears, smiles and a lot of laughter.
To realise a dream at the first selection event caught us a little off guard. It's always a possibility but you never know how these things will work out. The camaraderie between the athletes and coaches at climbing events is cool to see and be apart of. I've never seen it as much as I did in Tokyo, everyone psyched for everyone else even though tensions were high in anticipation of bringing out their best performance yet.
So what now? After a short rest to regroup and recharge, back to it! A new plan, a bigger dream, the same team.
I'm SO proud to be apart the team that worked towards and realised the goal of 'getting a ticket at the Olympics.' There are many people who you will never see or hear of who are a part of the bigger picture and I'm thankful for every single one of you!
And I'm looking forward to seeing where the next road will take us 💕
