Robert Propst officially joined Herman Miller as the head of the Herman Miller Research Department in 1960 with the intent of bringing groundbreaking design into the fold. He focused on the evolving workplace and created Action Office, an office system that could easily be reconfigured to the shifting needs of the people using it.
