These are the relatives of opioid victims testifying in federal court about the devastating effects of abuse and addiction. Even as thousands of people died, evidence that might have slowed the course of an American tragedy was kept hidden. One document, known as a “prosecution memo,” details how government lawyers believed that Purdue Pharma, the maker of the powerful opioid OxyContin, knew early on that the drug was fueling a rise in abuse and addiction. They also gathered evidence indicating that the company’s executives misled the public and Congress. Find out more on this week’s episode of @theweekly. Because of unduly harsh application of new rules, people in chronic pain also suffer and die. But as with every problem, someone in government tries to solve a problem without thought or knowledge. Alcohol abuse is condoned. Beer and hard liquor are responsible for more deaths.Their use is promoted in all media. This is politically correct. Find a sane answer to the problem of narcotic abuse without making people suffer and die !!

I lost both of my brothers and my father to opioids. These companies engineered the drugs to be addictive intentionally and profited billions. The also made them so they could be cooked and injected like heroin. I remember reading that 50,000 people died last year because of it, I’m not sure that there could be adequate reparations. They profited billions, we are left to suffer.

My uncle died the same way. My mother was (and i strongly unit it still is) addicted. A hio replacement/back surgeon over prescribed and enabled drug dealers by writing them prescriptions while getting his own patients hooked was arrested and soon after killed himself due to the severity of his charges. My uncle is dead. My mother will never be the same.

Do you know the difference between an emergency and crisis. Calling the opioid epidemic one and not the other would have allowed federal dollars to communities who are suffering the worst. Guess which one Trump called it? If you guessed an emergency and not crisis you’re right and communities are not getting money to help those suffering the worst.

I broke my neck when a drunk driver blow a light and crashed into my car. I take Opioids on a regular basis to deal with long-term pain from this. I take as needed for pain, not to get high. Why are opioids so bad but Democrat-led cities use taxpayer dollars to fund "safe" injection sites for heroin users?
