A fish farming operation is seen here in the Saronic Gulf, just offshore Greece’s Attica Peninsula. Fish farming — or pisciculture — involves raising fish in tanks or enclosures, usually for food. In 2015, Greece had at least 300 of these farms and raised more than 242 million pounds (109 million kg) of fish and mussels. /// Photo by @zizanius

Y’all are saying fish farms are bad but let’s be honest humans are legit cancer to the earth. We are the sole reasons this earth is the way it is. And you know what’s crazy? The people that complain the most are the ones that do nothing about it. I’d rather see some kid video taping him saving animals and planting trees then to hear all you fuckers complaining about how things are bad for the earth. Like duh?? You think we’re all new to how things work around here?? No. We realize what’s going on but the difference is doing something about it. For every complaint you’ve made you could have planted a tree... just saying stop eating your breath, people don’t just read comments and go “damn their right this is unethical, we’re killing the planet.” It that we’re true my comment would actually have an impact on those reading it but instead I’ll just get replies from people telling me I’m wrong or trying to bring me down, and to those I say, have fun. But pick up some trash for your community next time you see some and leave your hatred there while you’re at it😘

This is bad for the ecology of the ocean. Wild fish are caught and fed to the farmed fish. The farmed fish are kept in crowded conditions and this stresses them and weakens their immune system so drugs and antibiotics have to be used to keep them alive. This is not healthy for the surrounding ecology. Instead, help with hatcheries to raise wild fish and restore wild fish populations and stop overfishing and dumping by catch.

Fishfarms on sea are so incredibly bad for the farmed areas wildlife. Put them on land, and they do little to no damage, however it is more costly, so they are being outfased. Makes me sad to see this picture and the results glorified as such in this post.

Without farmed fish you'll need to double the amount pulled from the oceans, since 50% of consumed fish is now farmed. Take your pick

That piece of ocean would be much more beautiful if it wasn’t exploiting animals.
